Young Author rough drafts were due today. In class, students peer edited each others and gave feedback. Some students were also able to complete editing their own after making changes suggested by peers. Any students who did not get to start or finish the self-editing sheet are to do it over the weekend so that I have time to do a final edit before Friday. Friday the 4th we will all be working on taking teacher comments to create our final drafts. We will also get to start working on the aesthetic aspects of our books! Below is a copy of the self-edit sheets.

Today we completed our Jamestown analysis. We then started a short essay to explain why it was so hard for the Jamestown settlers. The essay is due Monday. It is a short 5 paragraph essay with the intro and conclusion being 1-3 sentences and the 3 body paragraphs ranging from 3-6 sentences. We are focusing on quality not quantity and really supporting answers using text evidence from the documents we analyzed. Below is the question with possible categories. Attached is the rubric. Why did so many Jamestown settlers die?
We are currently studying explorers. Today in 301's class we presented explorer and took data on their endeavors. Students then started answering three questions based on their data. Most students were unable to finish the questions, or need to look them over, so they are coming home with a printed copy. Below are the three questions as well in case the paper goes missing. This is due tomorrow on Friday, April 6th.
