Homework will change daily for this and will fluctuate between finishing a chapter at home to writing a summary or creating questions. Ms. Malhiot and I will make sure that the planners reflect what needs to be done.
The novels themselves are split into 4 sections with a quiz and mini project at the end of each section. This Tuesday we will finish our first section. Students had a little over an hour on Wednesday to complete the project. The project is due Wednesday, February 20th. They also had over an hour in class today to do the quiz, which is due Tuesday, February 19th. Attached below are the two quizzed and the rubric/explanation for the project.
The quizzes for the novel unit have both short answer as well as essay components and are always open book as skill focus is on finding text evidence. Quizzes will be started in class always with at least 35 minutes to work on them. Quizzes are given ample time and are allowed to be taken home, so test corrections do not apply since more time is given and the quiz is open book.
We will also start various styles of reading discussion groups with this novel, so hopefully you hear about some of those at home!
Again, students are always welcome to come in early at 8am with questions or any work they need help with.
