WHO: Future Problem Solving is open to all Coonley students in grades 5-8.
WHAT: Future Problem Solving is an international program in which students work in teams of four to complete a problem solving process. During written competitions, students are given a fictional scenario set in the future. Using creative and analytical thinking skills, students identify a problem within the scenario, and develop a futuristic action plan to address it. In the final stages of each competition, students create oral presentations and present their action plans to a panel of judges.
This year, competition topics will include Insects and Mining.
WHEN: The Future Problem Solving Team will meet every Wednesday from 3:30‐5:00 p.m. in Room 205 with Ms. High. The team will prepare for the regional competition in February, and teams that advance to state will continue to meet through the end of April (2021-2022 competition dates: 2/5, 2/12, and 4/1-2).
QUESTIONS: Please feel free to browse the Future Problem Solving International website (http://www.fpspi.org/) or attend the first meeting on Wednesday, September 7th (parent/guardian permission is needed). Please feel free to email Ms. High with any questions. [email protected]
