This week we will spend time learning about class routines and building a strong learning culture. There will be a variety of lessons including group activities that focus on working and supporting each other, lessons that help you learn how you learn and lessons that focus on helping you build independent learning skills. This should be fun and help us get the school year off to a good start.
A few reminders for the start of the year:
· Bring a water bottle. It could be a very hot day.
· Dress for the weather.
· Dismissal is at 3:30 p.m. at the Belle Plaine Entrance.
I enjoyed reading Flora and Ulysses, and I have planned some fun games related to the book. As I have informed our students, we will do this on Friday afternoon, so you may want to take a little time this first week to review the story. I had to read it again to prepare all the activities.
Homework this week will be light as we ease back into the school routine. For reading work you should be reading 20 minutes each night. We will be using picture books this week in class so the nightly assignments will be your choice. However, you may want to read over Flora and Ulysses so it is fresh in your mind.
Attached is the parent survey! It appears it was left out of the group when we sent the letter home, so I will send one home with all the students tomorrow as well.
